Braid, Weave and Locks

Phew! It’s been such a very long time I held a pen. I started thinking about what to write about. I stroke my hands over my head, just to discover that I’ve been wearing my Braid for a while. But how does it look so new? Oh! I remember! I think it will be so wonderful to share. Let's go there!
The truth is that most ladies do not like to visit the Salon very often. Especially after an exhaustive Braid or Weave. They will love to take a break for a while and enjoy their braid while it lasts
Here are few tips that will make our old Braid, Weave or Locks look young *winks*
Combing/ Brushing
Ladies tend to be embarrassed when their braids look old and they tend to brush or comb the hair especially the extensions. This will cause more damage to the weak hair and it tends to pull off your hair. If you see the need to comb or brush the tangled part of the hair, you can just slightly brush the ends to make it look neater. Don’t move to the extensions. It may look good, but you might turn bald when you get rid of the hair.
Scratching
There has been a joke about ladies always hitting their head whenever it feels itchy. You can’t blame them o, that thing can itch for Africa lol. Believe me, wearing weave or locks for a long time will attract slight/much itch. However, you have to be gentle when you scratch. Don’t scratch with your finger nails. Some ladies will scratch their hair till blood comes out (sheesh!) You need to treat your hair like every other living thing. You can get a scalp soother, apply some oil or massage gently. Stop hitting your head like it’s some sort of wood.
Washing and Drying
The natural oil your scalp produces tends to attracts dirt. You may not wash your hair like you normally do, but you need to wash the Braid especially the underneath. Wash deeply but gently, massage with fingertips with a soft shampoo. Repeat and rinse three times. Make sure you dry your hair COMPLETELY. I emphasize on the word “completely” because you don’t wanna know the stench that will booze out of your hair if it doesn’t dry completely. Wash your Braid, Weave or Locks every two/three weeks
Moisturizing
I once had a neighbor that will never apply cream on her braids till she gets rid of it. She will proudly tell me about it, and all I can do is to shake my head. Weave or no weave, you need to keep your hair moisturized at all times. Your braids, weave or locks need enough cream/oil to look shiny. That’s actually the first secret that will keep attention off the old hair. Natural things Shea butter; Coconut oil; Alovera can all be used to keep your hair moist
Styling
The moment your Braid starts losing beauty, you need to limit the way you flaunt and style it. Do not pull too much as this weakened edges might break off. The funniest thing is you won’t notice the damage until you loose it. Take extra time to style your braids because edges are too fragile and they need extra attention.
Finally, because there are secrets on how to keep your braids look new doesn’t mean you have to overdo things. Do not keep Braids and Locks for too long (Pity the hair too now) Try new look and keep radiating. There are one thousand and one hairstyles out there that will make you stand out always. Just give it a trial and explore.
