WIGGY WIGGY!

Have you ever seen a cockroach or bug in a hair wig? Trust me, I’ve seen worse!
I have friends that have all type of wigs: human hair, synthetics, braids, caps, ponytails and all sorts. But they have this habit of wrapping the used-wig in a polythene bag and fling it somewhere. It’s not because they have excess money to get new wig weekly, they’re just too lazy to take care of the wig. Rather than take it to a hair stylist, they’ll imprison the wig, leaving it all smelly and zombie-looking *poor wig* This zombie wig will pray for the day it will see sunshine again, so that it will bring out the everlasting stench it has accumulated in the grave *yuck*

I love the new innovation in the ‘wig industry’ recently, it has taken a new turn and almost everybody is wearing wig unnoticed (even the braided wig that was neglected those days has turned out to be the cornerstone stone) You need be able to differentiate between a synthetic and human hair wig. Human hair wigs are quite stronger and last longer than synthetic. Some wigs can be combination of both though.
So, I’m gonna drop some guides on how to maintain your hair wigs and make to last longer and firmer. It’s the Cleaning and Maintenance Guide
CLEANING
You only need to wash your wig after you have worn it up to 10-12 times. When I say washing: it doesn’t mean you should scrub like a rug *lol*. It means you should apply the shampoo/conditioners that are for wigs only (not your regular hair shampoo/conditioners as this might damage the texture) Soak your wig in the shampoo and warm water for a while but do not scrub or massage, just bring it out after a while and rinse with warm water also. De-tangle gently and let it dry then use a wig brush for the tangles. Make sure you avoid using heat to dry the wig but you can use curler/bending rollers to get back your curls.
MAINTENANCE
This is a very broad process but let me keep it short by clarifying the dos and don’ts…
Keep your wig covered when not in use- this doesn’t mean you should put it in very tight leather like bunch of unripe bananas, you can hang it somewhere and cover with a netting material to avoid dust or you can put it back to the package where it was inserted when you first got it. Do not use hair or shine sprays on your wig (however you can only do this once in a blue moon after you’re very sure that the product is not harsh and won’t damage the wig)
Don’t go to bed or bath tub with your wig. Bottom-line is: avoid water as much as you can, do not go the shower with your wigs make sure you remove it whenever you’re in the rain, pool or shower. Sleeping with your wig makes it tangle fast and rough. You have to be gentle when you want to comb your wig- you can put it on a wig stand and brush lightly. In short, treat your wig like wool: the moment you take off your wig, hang it somewhere for fresh air and don’t give room for small insect or bacteria to creep in you don’t want to scratch your wig off in an occasion (that will be hilarious though *giggles*)
Lastly, don’t neglect your hair because you have tons of wigs, remember wigs will come and go but your hair is forever. Hence, take very good care of it.
Enjoy the Wiggy Season!
